Below are some of the questions our Spa guests frequently ask. Reviewing these suggestions might help you prepare for your Spa visit.
How and when should I make my Spa appointments?
Spa reservations may be made online at http://www.broadmoor.com/ or by calling the Spa directly at 719.577.5770 or 866.686.3965. We encourage you to schedule your Spa services well in advance of your visit to ensure the widest selection of treatments and appointment times. Spa appointments must be reserved with a credit card number or a hotel reservation confirmation number. However, your credit card will not be charged prior to your arrival, and, upon check-in, you may choose any payment method you desire. Your credit card will only be charged in the event that another payment method is not chosen, or if you fail to show up for your Spa services without canceling 24 hours prior.
What is the Spa's cancellation policy?
We respectfully ask that you give the Spa at least 24 hours notice if you must cancel an appointment. The full service(s) cost will be charged for any late cancellation or no-show appointments.
How should I tip my therapist?
For your convenience, we will add a customary 20% gratuity to your Spa bill unless you instruct us not to do so. Should you wish to increase or reduce this amount based on your service satisfaction, please see a Spa Concierge. A Spa Concierge can also provide you with an envelope if you prefer to leave cash for your service provider.
What time should I arrive for my spa service(s)?
We ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start time of your first scheduled service. This allows you time to check in at the desk, change into your robe and sandals, and complete a Health History Questionnaire. We also recommend that you shower before any massage or body service, as a warm shower helps relax the muscles, making them more receptive to touch. You may choose to arrive even earlier to take advantage of the Spa amenities - sauna, steam room, aromatherapy room, fireplace lounge, and Mountain View Room.
What if I'm late?
Arriving late will limit the time for your treatment, lessening its effectiveness and your pleasure. Your treatment will end on time so that the next guest is not inconvenienced, and the full treatment price will apply.
What should I bring to the Spa?
We will provide you with a warm robe and sandals to wear during your spa experience. We also have lockers for you to leave your personal belongings in during your time at the spa. Towels, water, and personal amenities are available for use throughout the Spa.
Because we cannot be responsible for lost or damaged items, we request that you do not bring any valuables to the Spa. You may lock your valuables in the safe in your guest room. You may also lock personal belongings in your spa locker. For your convenience, a small vessel in which to place jewelry can be found in each treatment room.
What should I wear during my massage?
We will provide you with a robe to wear throughout the Spa. Before your service, your therapist will take you to your private treatment room and explain how the service will begin. He or she will then leave the room to allow you time to get comfortable under a towel or sheet. During your service, you will be professionally draped at all times - the therapist will only uncover the body part he or she is working on at the time. After the service, your therapist will leave the room again to allow you privacy to get dressed. So, you don't need to wear anything under your robe or during your service. Some guests are more comfortable leaving their undergarments on or wearing a bathing suit during massage services, and this is acceptable as well.
What amenities are available at the spa?
Both the ladies' locker area and the men's locker area boast a dry sauna, steam room, aromatherapy room, and fireplace room. Additionally, there is a co-ed Mountain View Room that overlooks The BROADMOOR East Golf Course and the mountains beyond. Spa guests are welcome to relax in any of these areas and enjoy the light refreshments (water, tea, and fruit) in the Mountain View Room.
What should I wear into the sauna and steam rooms?
Because the sauna and steam areas are not co-ed, many guests choose not to wear anything into the sauna and steam rooms. Some guests wear their robes or wrap up in towels. Others choose to bring their bathing suits to wear in these areas. Please feel free to do what feels most comfortable to you.
Is use of the pool and fitness center included in the cost of my spa service?
Use of the pools and fitness center is reserved for hotel guests and golf club members.
What are the spa's hours?
The hours of The Spa vary depending on the season. Please check with The Spa or the hotel's concierge desk for current hours.
Can I order lunch at the spa?
The Spa does not allow food or alcoholic beverages on the 3rd floor, where our massages and body services are performed. There is a Spa Pool Café located on the 2nd floor by our indoor pool. The hours of the Spa Pool Café vary depending on the season. Guests are welcome to order food from the Spa Pool Café and enjoy poolside dining on the 2nd floor. Because this is a very casual environment, Spa guests are welcome to visit the 2nd floor in their Spa robes.
What about alcohol?
For safety reasons, alcohol is not served on the 3rd floor of the Spa. We do not recommend excessive consumption of alcohol before or after any massage or body treatments, as the detoxifying effects of these services can contribute to the dehydrating effects of alcohol. The Spa reserves the right to re-schedule services for guests who appear to be intoxicated.
Can I bring my kids to the spa?
The BROADMOOR Spa is an adult Spa and we respectfully request that guests do not bring their children to services with them. The 3rd floor of The Spa, which includes the amenities area, is reserved for adults 16 and over. We do offer some children's (ages 11 and below) services (see the spa menu), and all of those services are performed in the salon on the 2nd floor. Tween and teen services for youths aged 12-15 are also available. However, due to the adult nature of our locker room areas, teens under the age of 16 are not allowed in the amenity area or Spa locker rooms on the third floor. If they have a treatment on the third floor they will be led directly to the treatment room to change.
Can I use my cell phone in the spa?
In order to preserve the relaxing environment of the Spa, we do ask that you turn off your cell phone, e-mail and other electronic devices while visiting The Spa.
Can I request the gender of my therapist?
Please let us know of any gender preferences when booking your services. We will do our best to accommodate your requests. Some treatments are done in wet rooms in the separate amenities areas, and thus are gender specific. Please know that all of our therapists are licensed professionals and will do everything in their power to make you feel comfortable during your Spa services.
Should I shave before my services?
Although this is a personal decision, we recommend allowing several hours between shaving and receiving any service that involves an exfoliation (body services, scrubs, gentlemen's facial) to decrease the risk of skin irritation or discomfort.
What are my responsibilities as a guest?
Please advise our staff of any special requests, sensitivities or allergies, if you are nursing, breast-feeding, or taking any medications. This information will be requested of you in the Health History Form you will fill out before your service. We also appreciate you sharing any pertinent information when you call to make your Spa appointments. We will use this information to keep you comfortable and safe throughout your Spa experience. Please notify us of any discomfort or preferences regarding room temperature, music volume, or massage pressure during your Spa experience.
If I'm pregnant, what services can I receive?
Expectant guests may receive any nail, hair, or makeup services, and facial services that do not include a peel or Vibradermabrasion. Once you are safely into your second trimester, pregnant guests may receive a prenatal massage. Most expectant moms can also enjoy hydrotherapies.
We recommend that you check with your physician before booking any Spa services. We will not perform wraps, hot stone services, deep tissue work, or Thai massage on expectant guests.
What if I have special medical conditions?
We recommend that you check with your physician before visiting The Spa. Please notify The Spa of any special needs or concerns when you book your services. Your therapist will also briefly review your health history with you before beginning your service. If he or she believes that the service you have scheduled is unsafe for you based on any information given, he or she may recommend canceling the service, booking another service instead, or modifying the service to make it safe for you. As we are most interested in your safety and comfort, The Spa reserves the right to refuse service to any guest at any time.
Recently I've heard about people catching infections and getting sick as a result of pedicure services. What precautions does the Spa at the Broadmoor take to protect their guests?
The BROADMOOR is proud to use pipeless pedicure chairs. Traditional pedicure chairs contain pipes that can't be accessed easily for cleaning. Thus, the pipes retain dirty water that can harbor infectious bacteria.
Our pedicure chairs contain no pipes in which water can be retained, so microbial contamination is prevented. Further, we sanitize and disinfect all of our equipment and tools between every service to reduce health risks to our guests.
Where is the Spa and where should I park?
The Spa is located on the 3rd floor of the Golf Club Building, at the southeast corner of The BROADMOOR Property. You may park in the parking garage located under The BROADMOOR Hall located on Lake Circle, or you may valet park at the main entrance of the Hotel. From any location on Property, a shuttle can pick you up and drive you to the Golf Club building.
What else do I need to know?
Colorado Springs is located at an altitude of 6,008 feet, which can affect those guests who are visiting from lower altitudes. We recommend that you drink plenty of water, limit or avoid alcohol, and get plenty of rest to minimize the affects of the altitude. We also recommend wearing sunscreen while outdoors. If you become disoriented, dizzy, or ill at any time during your stay, The BROADMOOR's paramedics are on call 24 hours a day.
