680102-Seamstress

Inspects clothing for buttons, seams, rips and hem repair; conducting fittings and altering clothes as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Tailor/alter or repair clothing as needed
  • Communicate with customers about appointments, due dates, and pricing
  • Use and maintain sewing machines
  • Use computer to make ticket regarding necessary alterations
  • Conduct fitting appointments with customer
  • Know and maintain quality standards
  • Know and maintain safety requirements and production standards
  • Service customers at the counter
  • Assist in hanging loads coming out of dry cleaning machine
  • Assists in assembly of clothing

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:

High School diploma or G.E.D. and work experience in the construction and alterations of clothing, creative hand stitching, and operating/maintaining a sewing machine.

Language Ability:

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts and extreme heat (non-weather). The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
