Our Wilderness Managers at The Ranch at Emerald Valley, Cloud Camp and Fly Fishing Camp have exciting updates to share with you! They have new adventures and ideas to share and hope you visit soon. See what they’re up to. It’s going to be nothing short of amazing.

Hello from The Ranch at Emerald Valley!
To say that I am sad to say goodbye to my summer home, would be an understatement. It has been a season where our repeat guests are becoming family. I have had the privilege to welcome one family back ten times since we opened the Ranch in 2014.  It has been such a joy to serve them and I would love to have all my guests repeat that often!

There is also something that I would like to share with you; AAA Colorado rated our little ranch The Most Luxurious Ranch of the year! As much as I appreciate the accolades, it’s the guests who make the difference…thank you!

Reba is still chugging along and enjoys blissful naps after leading hikes as her feline pal Junebug continues to take her nightly strolls patrolling the camp and keeping a watchful eye over our guests.

Chef Randi and her team have hit it out of the ballpark this season. Emerald Valley Ranch’s cookouts continue to garner rave reviews; perhaps it’s because of the Eagles Nest Ranch Wagyu Ribeye or the rousing entertainment, whatever it is they are too special to be missed.
It has been a beautiful sight to witness the family unplugging, challenging each other in archery, or saddling up the horses for an invigorating trail ride. Seeing so many families and strangers who become friends throughout their stay has been most rewarding, so I look forward to welcoming those who have yet to visit and welcoming back our EVRepeaters!

Over the next few months, we encourage you to keep in touch. Share your favorite photos on Instagram and tag us at #Broadmoorwilderness and #EVR. We love to see our home through your eyes. Also, don’t forget to book your visit next season when we will dust off our spurs and re-open on Friday, April 24, 2020.
My summer home in the mountains is one that I hope you will call your own summer retreat in 2020.

Greetings from Cloud Camp!

It has been the Cloud Camp Team’s and my pleasure to have served you this past season. Thank you all for choosing Cloud Camp as your mountaintop getaway this year.

We have some big news to share: Sunset Magazine just awarded Cloud Camp’s Fire Tower Suite as their Best Room with a View! We are so proud of our suite in the sky, and we would love to have you experience it for yourself.  It is perfect for that iconic wedding night or selective solitude for the solo traveler.
Who would have ever thought that Pickle Ball at 9200 feet would be such an attraction… we did!!! It has been so much fun to witness the competitive spirit of our families and groups when they pick up their paddles and challenge one another.  We have even had those who didn’t know each other before they played the game, who became friends after a match.
Ranger Cori has been leading some fabulous yoga sessions; even our resident canine Zoey is getting her down dog on. There is something to be said for sunrise yoga, high above The Broadmoor, at 9200 feet above sea level.

Our trail system keeps improving, giving our guests more options for their hiking trips.  The newest addition, Upper Sunrise Trail, has had many boots tread on its path this season, and we anticipate even more traffic next summer.

Executive Wilderness Chef, Randi, has kept our guests well fed all season, leading nightly Cooking Club demonstrations, preparing show-stopping four-course dinners, and thrilling everyone with the incredible platters that are shared around the communal Dining Room table in the Lodge.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Cloud Camp next spring. We’ll open our doors again for guests on Friday, April 24, 2020.

Best Wishes for a Wonderful Winter,

Lisa Thomassie
Manager, The Broadmoor Cloud Camp

Tight Lines are a Way of Life at Fly Fishing Camp!

Why does this primo fishing season have to end?! Thanks to all of our guests and the excellent conditions, we had a fantastic time at Fly Fishing Camp this year. To my surprise, we still have a new Orvis rod up for grabs next season as no one has had a hole-in-one on our new par-3 golf hole!
As an Orvis-Endorsed lodge, we were lucky enough to host “These Boots are Made for Wading” for a second year, and we are bringing it back for 2020! This all women’s weekend is part of our dedication to the Orvis 50/50 on the Water program, which is designed to bring more women into the sport of fly fishing. I talked about this weekend in my mid-season letter, but I had to mention it again as the ladies are still talking about the swag bag. This weekend is an awesome gift for that special woman in your life, book it today because it’s going to sell out fast! June 5-7, 2020.
We even had the rock star and world-renowned Angler and Fly Fisherman, Charles Jardin fish with us this summer. “I have always seen myself as a perpetual “student”, said Charles in an interview with Fly Dreamers. I am willing even now, after all these years to learn from absolutely anyone and I do.” If you aren’t exactly sure who is, take it from me he truly is a fly fishing legend, and it was an honor to have him drop in and allow us to learn from each other!
Finally, Stacie, Eddy, and Blue wanted me to thank you all for coming to visit us this summer, and we can’t wait to get you back on the river when we open on Friday, April 24, 2020. What are you waiting for, book today and drop a line next spring!

Tight Lines!
