The Season of Authentic Adventure

Spencer and Julie Penrose traveled the world on many adventures, but their greatest pleasure was to be in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. There were many grand parties at Camp Vigil (the original name for The Ranch at Emerald Valley). Guests marveled at the view of Pikes Peak from atop Cheyenne Mountain and the original Cheyenne Lodge (the site of Cloud Camp today). September is now your perfect time to find your perfect adventure. Whether it is a jeep tour or horseback ride to view the fall colors from the ground, a bird’s eye view while you soar above the treetops on a zip line or watching birds soar while learning about the fine art of falconry. Fly fish, hike, bike – whatever you choose. There is nothing better than a mountain adventure.

From the Louisiana Purchase, to Lewis and Clark and the Westward expansion, to the Rocky Mountain President himself, Theodore Roosevelt; The Great Republic relives the adventures of our past, present, and future through its 19th century maps, flags, posters, and rare books. From its 1854 New World Map by Jacob Monk, or its 1876 38-star hand cut and sewn flags, products are designed for the individual who puts a premium on unquestioned authenticity and quality of craftsmanship when investing in an exceptional piece of history. Fun Fact

The Redcoat Band played at the hotel, but Spencer and Julie Penrose often brought them to Camp Vigil (now the site of The Ranch at Emerald Valley). One party lasted two days and had more than 125 friends of the Penrose’s in attendance who arrived by motorcar and horseback.
