685109-Penrose Room Server

Serves food and beverage to guests in dining establishment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Greet guests in a friendly, timely manner with a smile, proper English and correct posture
  • Answer menu questions and make suggestions regarding food, spirits and service
  • Maintain knowledge of, abide by, and enforce Colorado liquor laws.
  • Relay order to kitchen via computer and serve courses from kitchen and service bars
  • Observe diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed
  • Assures proper silverware placement prior to course arrival
  • Answer menu questions and make suggestions regarding food, wine, spirits and service
  • Prompts Sommelier or Captain to serve wine pairings prior to meal arrival
  • Transports food to the table
  • Handle opening and closing procedures as directed by side-work assignments
  • Crumb table after dinner and offer tea, after dinner drinks, etc.
  • Ability to crossover and assist all team members
  • Write order on check or memorize it
  • Assists with totaling bill and accepting payment
  • Complete daily and weekly side-work
  • Communicate guest needs to all members of the team
  • Tableside cooking and preparation
  • Follow BROADMOOR safety and hygiene standards
  • Follow all directions received from Supervisors
  • Checks schedule daily, as it is subject to change
  • Report tips as required by the IRS
  • Check with manager/supervisor prior to leaving.

 Marginal Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following.

  • Have knowledge of Hotel history and grounds
  • Have knowledge of The BROADMOOR restaurants and retail outlets
  • Train and guide new staff

 Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; wine and cocktail knowledge preferred.

 Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 Computer Skills:

Order processing and ability to use P.O.S. system

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; extreme cold (non-weather) and extreme heat (non-weather). Occasionally exposed to weather related conditions for outdoor receptions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

 While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee is regularly required to lift up to 25 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to push and/or pull 100+ pounds and lift up to 100 pounds with assistance. The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
