The Penrose Room
Located 28 Miles southwest of Portland, the Dundee Hills AVA encompasses 6,490 acres with geology dating back 15 million years when lava flowed from the northeast Oregon and pushed into the Willamette Valley, covering all but the highest hills with up to 1,000 feet of basalt. After the success of early sherries and fortified wines, founders Dr. Christopher and Mary Penfold planted their vine cuttings they had carried on their voyage over to Australia. In 1844 the fledgling vineyard was officially established as the Penfolds Wine Company at Magill Estate.
