On June 29, 1918, Spencer Penrose officially opened the doors to his grand hotel and a legend was born. Now, we cordially invite you to celebrate The Broadmoor’s Centennial by joining us in 2018 for a year filled with activities, specials and events designed to touch on our history while we also keep our sights set on the future.
Each month has a theme that harkens back to our beginnings. Look for three major events, beginning January 20 with “Legacy of Ice: A Salute to The Broadmoor Ice Palace” where we will honor all those who trained there in figure skating, ice hockey, curling and speed skating. We will also pay tribute to one if it’s most famous skaters, Peggy Fleming Jenkins, this year celebrating the 50th anniversary of her Gold Medal win at the Olympics in Grenoble, France. Other events include a Weekend Gala June 1-3, over the dates of the original VIP opening of the hotel by Mr. Penrose, and we will honor our Military on Veterans Day with a banquet and events, as well. Anchoring our Centennial celebration, and helping us pay tribute to our longstanding golf legacy, is the U.S. Senior Open June 25 – July 1. We look forward to sharing this year with you. Come celebrate with us as we write the first chapter of our next 100 years.
